LifeLine has recently released the news that they have a new ambassador, the lovely Anais, who was presented to the public in her new role on the 4^th of July at the Boma Restaurant in Alberton.  Along with Anais the evening consisted of music, including a sneak preview of Anais’ new CD, a short fashion show with some of the amazing dresses created by Arwen of Arwen Garmentry, and a few words from Megan Briede, the director of LifeLine, on the reasons that they chose Anais as their musical ambassador.

The show was spectacular, the sights and sounds blending into an awesome tapestry of powerful feeling that swept you up to the highlight of the evening – the song written especially for LifeLine as their theme song, “Be Your Dream”. Anais, whose CD is being produced by none other than the Idols voice coach Malie Kelly, is one person that can reach out to the youth effectively with her music.

The message to the youth of today is simple – We have been through it all, and we know how it feels; just talk to us and we will listen.

Anais has a young and vibrant sound that soars, and in a single song she can move from something akin to pop through to hard rock and somehow make it work. She clearly has something of showmanship in her blood, as her presence is dynamic and she owns the stage as she sings, using the music from her band as a tool to make her songs into  a showstopper.

Her band, Maurice on drums, Van Wyk on guitar, Morne on Bass and Steven on Keys, are young and powerful in their playing, and their enthusiasm is the perfect backdrop for Anais’ voice, and it is clear that in the battle to reach out to the youth, they are a powerful method of making the youth listen.

The show was fantastic and the presentations heartfelt, and in this you can be sure that LifeLine will achieve great things.

For the past 41 years LifeLine Ekurhuleni has been a leading provider of personal skills development and the promotion of emotional wellness for the healing and transformation of individuals and communities.

LifeLine Ekurhuleni was established out of a need for community members to have access to 24-hour telephonic services that could assist them to address the emotional and social stress and trauma that they were struggling to deal with.  This service has since grown to including specialized support and care for victims of domestic violence, rape and trauma as well as the provision of intermediary services supporting child victims of physical and sexual abuse to testify in court.  In providing these services LifeLine provides outreach services in Daveyton, Tsakane, Duduza and Vosloorus.

LifeLine further, provides training in the fields of personal growth, counselling skills and HIV and Aids.   This training has extended to support inmates in Modderbee, Nigel and Boksburg prisons.

As a community- based, civil society organisation whose core services are provided by volunteers, LifeLine Ekurhuleni involves the community at large and its resources to achieve its objectives.   In providing services to the community, LifeLine Ekurhuleni reaches over 20 000 adults and children annually.
